Atlas Mountain Race

The Atlas Mountain Race is a fixed route, unsupported, single-stage cycling race that starts in Marrakesh, crosses the Moroccan Atlas before taking riders through the Anti-Atlas and on to Agadir. The clock does not stop and there are no prizes. It follows gravel, single and double track and old colonial pistes that have long been forgotten and fallen into disrepair. There is very little tarmac. There is some walking, and at times there are great distances between resupply points.

The race starts on the 15th of February with a ‘grand départ’ from Marrakesh. Riders will follow a 1145 kilometre fixed route that passes through three staffed control points. They will need to get a stamp in their brevet card at each, before finally heading to the finish line near Agadir in Sidi Rabat, a picturesque village on the Atlantic coast, for a well deserved post-race beer or two.

Entries for the race will open on the 18th of September and you will need to get your application to race in before the 16th of October at midnight. Everything you need to know about the race will be in the Race Manual that will be published when registration opens. We'll also share the race route through Komoot at the same time. We'll get back to you on the 23rd of October to let you know if you got a spot to race!
